Greifswald

Topics

  • Quantum dynamics in intense laser fields
  • Quantum dynamics of exciton transfer
  • Quantum dynamics of strongly correlated systems

The workshop is equally dedicated to the fundamental notions, the theoretical concepts, and the numerical techniques used to model and analyse complex, driven and open quantum systems. Specific topics addressed in the contributions include

  • Floquet theory
  • microscopic foundations of Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics
  • hierarchy equations for open system dynamics
  • time-dependent many-body techniques beyond Hartree-Fock
  • time-dependent density matrix renormalization group and matrix product states
  • programming techniques for efficient numerical simulation

Many of the topics of the workshop are similar to those studied in the DFG collaborative research center "Strong correlations and collective effects in radiation fields".

Program

The detailed program & the abstracts of all contributions can be found here.
(You will get a hard copy during registration.)

Public Evening Lecture (Tuesday)

Ulrich Schollwöck
“Quantensimulation mit ultrakalten Atomen: quanten-analog versus klassisch-digital”

Programming Tutorial (Thursday)

Georg Hager & Gerhard Wellein
“Programming techniques for efficient numerical simulation”

A tutorial on the efficient use of modern CPUs for numerical simulation will provide insight into typical performance bottlenecks in scientific computing and how they can be quantified. This will enable application developers to know when their code is "fast enough" and help them achieve best resource utilization on their machines, from desktop PCs to supercomputers. (Basic knowledge of OpenMP required, see also previous tutorials")

Schedule

The workshop begins on Monday morning, 8.50am, and the scientific program ends on Wednesday afternoon, about 17.45pm. The programming tutorial is given on Thursday. The welcome reception (food+drinks) takes place on Monday after the poster session.
